Rise and Fall - 1.1

 

Tyler walks home from work one day with a heavy heart and too much on his mind. A 2 year assignment.. Sure in his younger military career he wanted more action but he had a family now and certainly didn't want any action. How was he to tell his wife of this news knowing she was so close to giving birth to his first child. Nearing home he took a moment to stop and look up at the sky. Hopefully it would provide some answers or a way out this but he couldn't be so lucky twice. 

His wife didn't take the news very well and the rest of the night was rough. Knowing he was due to leave in a matter of days Tyler spent his leave tending to his wife and fixing up the house a bit so she wouldn't have to worry about that while he was gone. 

Pam spent her husbands leave tending to the garden and crying. She didn't want to go through labor alone but that was the way of military life and she had little choice in the matter. 

The day finally arrived for Tyler to leave on his first 6mo block. His commanding officer came to pick him up but was surprised to see a very pregnant woman open the door instead. 

'Tyler is coming but you better bring my husband back to me in one piece you understand!' Pam was basically yelling at this man and all he could do was stand at attention and let her. He understood how difficult this must be for the both of them. 

'I can't make any promises ma'am but I will do my best.'

A month into her husband being gone Pamela goes into labor with twins. She was just as shocked as the midwife as she had gave no indication she was having multiple. 

Jami and Leo were born healthy and in good spirits. Pam would often hold them tight and tell them daddy would be home soon when she herself got overwhelmed with such a task.

Being a new mom of two made time fly by and before Pam knew it Tyler was back home safely in her arms. She knew it was temporary but it was good to have him back. 

He got home late that night and didn't want to wake the sleeping babies so he spent the time tending to his wife. 

Morning came and went by the time Pam woke up and she did so with a start. She ran to the cribs to find the twins gone and it took her a moment to hear distant laughing from outside. Upon looking out the window she catches her husband cracking up over Jami trying to catch butterflies and basically rolling her brother. A smile played along her face and she set to make everyone lunch. It felt so good to have her husband back.

Time flies when you are having fun though and soon her husband left again. He kissed the twins on their heads as they reached out to him and gave a firm kiss to his wife before he walked out the door. Just like the first time Pam cried herself to sleep for the first week. 

A month passed quickly and soon the twins were having their first birthday. Another thing their dad would miss out on.

Jami grew up just as beautiful as ever. Pam was letting her hair grow as it reminded her so much of her mother. 

Leo looked like his mother and it made Pam smile every time she saw him. He clung to her a bunch but she didn't mind

Having very mobile almost 1 in a half year olds was rough and Pam counted down the days until her husband was back every single day. It would be any day now and Pam desperately needed that break. 

Another 6 months down and only 2 more to go before this assignment was over. Another birthday missed and he hated it. Tyler gets out of bed and heads to his garden, he hardly slept now a days, not with the things he had seen.

He was also quicker to anger and his loud conversations often times woke the twins which irritated Pam to no end. 

'Come stinky girl. How does one get so dirty?' Jami smiled up at her mother but wouldn't speak a word. The thought was like a train that made her think of how different her once calm natured husband had become. She did most of the caring of the twins even with him home. She was sucked back to reality when her daughter started splashing wildly in the bath soaking her. 

The 6 months home was coming to an end and Pam was sad to say she was glad. Tyler was a different man and hard to live with. She wondered how another 2 rounds of this might affect the family but she tried hard not to go down that rabbit hole.
