Homestead - Holland

Back over to the Holland homestead. Sarena was back out in the garden trying to get enough food before winter hit.

Keenan was still trying to find a job in business. Everyday was a struggle for there savings was dwindling quickly. 

Neither one of them knew how much struggle it was to care for your own homestead. Sarena was shocked when her and her friend, Brandi, came across some poison Ivy. She was itchy for days after that. 

Sarena: Have you found an opening in business yet my love?

Keenan (Frustrated): No. I am looking everyday but nothing has popped up.

Sarena shakes her head in understanding. She knew how important it was for her husband to provide for her and his family. This must be so hard on him.

Sarena heads to the trading post to see if she can find out about a job for her husband. 

She runs into a local fur trader but she doesn't know what is happening with the trade routes lately. Sarena does learn that many settlers are looking for a rep to help them with fur trading. Sarena takes the information in stride. She wasn't aware there were more then 2 jobs opened. 

Sarena runs into Mr.Host and talks to him about the jobs. He tells her to just keep looking for he knows it will show up soon.

Sarena heads back home happy but frustrated like her husband. 

The next morning Keenan looks again. He sees many jobs but none in anything he knew how to do. He was a business man not a nurse or linguist. 

To add fuel to the fire Sarena finds out she is pregnant. She runs to tell her husband who almost has a heart attack. That couldn't afford a child right now. 

Keenan goes fishing to calm his nerves. A baby.. He was happy but also stressed. At this rate they would have to move back to the host house and how embarrassing for them.
